This National Intern Day, we are excited to feature our Operations Intern, Jordan Schwartz. Jordan is a rising Junior at the University of Colorado Boulder, pursuing a psychology major with a business minor. Her enthusiasm, dedication, and positive energy have made a significant impact on our team.
As Operations Intern, Jordan is exposed to all aspects of running a non-profit, meeting with people from all departments, from communications and policy to family services. The bulk of her work consists of helping our Partnerships, Programs, and Camps Teams—the staff who manage partnerships, coordinate our child and adult programming across our six family shelters, and run HFH Summer Camps. She has spent time at our shelter sites, researched potential partnerships, participated in meetings with program directors and partners, and worked on projects for camp—including coordinating camp bus packets with essential items like snacks, water, medication bags, luggage tags, and name tags.
“I know I want to do something in the realm of helping people and something with kids, so this [position] is perfect,” said Jordan. “My experience here has been a really good foundation. Everyone here is really nice and has a lot of patience and is really willing to help me and teach me. It has given me a good sense of what it will be like in a professional environment.”
“Jordan has an eagerness to her that is very forthcoming—she wants to learn,” said Annamaria Santoro, Senior Director of Operations. “She is able to see that every aspect of this work is important, and even as a summer intern, what she is doing is helping a family or supporting a child going to camp.”
