Yesterday, NYC Council Member Amanda Farias visited Allie’s Place Center for Culinary Education & Employment on the 3rd day of the Barista job-training course—where students learn to operate a pop-up coffee shop where they take orders, prepare drinks, and serve customers. Her visit focused on the importance of workforce development programs for the vitality of our neighborhoods and city, as a whole. She met with HFH Deputy Executive Director Gretchen Hernandez, Allie’s Place Administrator Julissa Lantigua, Assistant Chef Instructor Jayda Gabriel, and graduates of the Barista program. It was a great pleasure having her and we look forward to working together in the future! Shout out to News 12 The Bronx for joining us.
